Music Update - August, 2010
How’s it going? As I mentioned in my post last month, I’ve officially started a monthly music updates newsletter!! Here is a snippet from this month’s - the first - edition:

July was a great month for music. I’ve been writing, learning new songs, booking shows, meeting people, and learning about the business side at (what feels like) warp speed. I’ve also created a profile at ReverbNation.com (as if I needed another social media outlet)! You can find me here.

Music Update - July, 2010
How are you? I thought I should probably write a bit of a music update as so many people have asked about what’s going on (THANK YOU!). I’m having so much fun with it!!! A couple months ago, I launched a facebook page, so if you’re like me and live there, we can be friends :) Or, you can still find me on myspace or youtube, if those are your thing.
In fact, there has been so much interest in what I’m up to, that I’m starting a monthly newsletter to keep in touch :) If you are interested in receiving updates to your inbox (with some awesome exclusives and extras like videos, photos, new songs, etc.) email me and I will add you to the list! (PS, I love you.) Plus, you get a free song for signing up! Bonus.
First off, from a general standpoint, things are amazing. I’m having the time of my life, and we’re just getting started! Since the first show in April, I’ve played a bunch of open stages and the Windfall Eco Festival in Newmarket, Ontario this past month. I have some newly remixed demos up on myspace, and two weekends ago I stepped into my Dad’s studio and recorded some acoustic guitar and vocals for three new songs. I have also been getting together with other musicians to jam and (hopefully) piece a band together.
Bottom line, though - SO much fun.
Singing in the rain
I had the great pleasure of performing at the Windfall Eco Festival in Newmarket on Saturday, June 12th! Sadly, it was raining ALL day and it was an outdoor festival. Still, it was a great show, and I met some really cool people! Thanks everyone who braved the weather and came out to check out the music and the festival!
As I mentioned, I’ve also been playing a lot of open stages recently. Two of my faves are Stir It Up Sundays at the Relish Bar and Grill and open mic at Marcello’s in Mississauga with Joel Martin. Great vibes, and some really great musicians and songwriters come out to both. This weekend, I’m going to check out the open mic at the Supermarket in Toronto’s Kensington Market on Sunday night. If you’re around and in the area, come join me for a drink! Or some Thai food - it’s surprisingly good there.
Just recently, I put up some remixed demos on myspace courtesy of my awesome Dad, Jay Speziale. <3 I’m loving the way they’re continuing to evolve. Two weekends ago I spent some time at my Dad’s which included a Marianas Trench show at the Burlington Sound of Music Festival, some RBM (summer’s key trio: Ribs, Beer, and Music) at the Beaches Ribfest in Toronto, and - of course - some time in the studio. We put down the starting point for three new songs. Exciting!!
Everyone who signs up for the newsletter (first edition comes out next month) will get a sneak peak at one of these new songs. ;) Email me to sign up! <3
And…the writing continues! But I’d say that’s a given. lol I’ve got three new songs that I’m working on right now. One almost-social-commentary song called Getting By, one scathing yet empowering tune about settling for a relationship called Patchouli Hair And Birthday Shoes, and a love song tentatively titled So Pure.
Wow, this got long! Thanks for reading and for listening! See you soon
